A new study links the abuse of anabolic steroids like testosterone to metabolic disease through insulin resistancein obese adults as well as reduced testosterone, which is used as a male sexual enhancer. Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the study evaluated the association between obesity and the development of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and insulin resistance in male and female college students, anabolic steroids and enhancing drugs.
